Shooters/ AIM 2023

As a passionate pool player and artist, I find that both activities help me to achieve a meditative state. I was, therefore, inspired to create this project at my local pool hall.

The project explores the intersection of art, sport, and social contact through a collaboration with AI and the local pool community. A surreal video animation created by myself and AI, of regulars playing pool and having fun at my local pool hall. The animation was played on a large TV screen at the pool hall while the regulars are actually playing pool in real time. The viewer is presented with two different versions of the same event. Art and sport are traditionally viewed as distinct realms. This project challenges its dichotomy by presenting the viewer with a hybrid form that is both physical and virtual.

This project was featured at the AIM Biennial 2023 curated by Gean Moreno, Marie Vickles, William Cordova and Mikhaile M. Solomon.
